About
I am dedicated to craft in all that I pursue. As a writer and editor I focus on mechanics and style (in the un-sexy sense of the word.) I would hang my head in shame if I were to submit any work containing a comma splice or an un-warranted split infinitive. I believe that clarity is achievable through convention, and that any rule-breaking must be precise and warranted.
I am passionate about telling stories to entertain, persuade, and inform. In stories, both true and imagined, I write about family, mental-illness, history, class, and religion. Everything I write is, whether explicitly or not, about my Midwestern life. Here I compile all of my work: academic essays, reviews of anything from films to records to books, unsolicited social commentary, rants, poetry, short stories, and journal entries. |
